Research funding in the United States does not operate in a vacuum. Federal budgets, grant priorities, and institutional allocations are increasingly shaped by shifting political landscapes, legislative agendas, and partisan priorities. Understanding these dynamics is essential for researchers at all career stages.

This workshop examines the intersection of politics and research funding across historical and contemporary contexts. Participants will explore how federal agencies align with administration goals, how congressional appropriations shape research trajectories, and what this means for scholars working across fields, from health sciences to climate research to social policy.

Space is limited; advance registration is encouraged.

We want everyone to participate fully. If there is anything you need regarding the schedule, food, or space—including religious, dietary, or accessibility needs—to be comfortable and present, please email gsas_cce@fas.harvard.edu at least 24 hours before the event.
