Details

Join the Student Center Arts Fellows for a  materials guided tour at Museum of Fine Arts(MFA).

📅 When: Friday, September 25th, 2pm-4pm
📍 Where: Museum of Fine Arts (Meet up outside Vanderbilt Hall (Longwood Campus)

A Stone, pigment, wood, glass, metal, clay. Before a work of art is a masterpiece, it's a material — quarried, ground, fired, or hammered by someone who knew exactly what their hands were doing. This guided tour follows those materials through the MFA's collections, uncovering connections between artistic process, cultural values, and social practice across centuries and continents.

Come see what the materials have to say!!!

Coming solo? Perfect. Most people do. We'll break into small groups, run a few icebreakers before we head out, and give you plenty of chances to meet people from across the University — different departments, different disciplines, same curiosity. Show up alone, leave with new friends.

Meet up: Outside the entrance of Vanderbilt Hall (Longwood). We'll walk to the MFA together at 2:00 PM sharp and enter through the Linde Family Wing Schools and Groups Entrance located on Museum Road, around the corner from the Huntington Avenue entrance, where our guide will welcome the group. Tour starts 2:30 PM and lasts 75 minutes.

Coming from Cambridge? Ride the M2 free with a valid Harvard ID.

The M2 shuttle runs from Harvard Square down to Longwood, and Vanderbilt Hall is the last stop — stay on until the end and step off right at our meeting point. Plan for a 20–30 minute ride and leave a buffer. Track buses live with the Passio Go app.

Cost: Free (With a valid Harvard ID) - DO NOT FORGET
