Mission
The Harvard Griffin GSAS Student-Parents Group enriches the academic experience of and provides visibility and support to parents in Harvard Griffin GSAS (and across Harvard) and their families. A robust support system for student-parents and families helps create a caring and nurturing environment for the entire Harvard community, encourages and makes possible a healthy work-life balance for student-parents, and attracts a diverse, well-rounded, accomplished, and mature pool of graduate students./p\r\nWe provide a supportive community for fellow graduate students with children. Toward this aim, we host a variety of community-building events and initiatives. Our Families Brunch, co-hosted with the Student Center at Harvard Griffin GSAS, welcomes students and their children to graduate school. Events like our clothing/toy exchanges, our annual free photo-shoot with the Harvard Griffin GSAS Photography Society, and child-friendly events with the Student Center at Harvard Griffin GSAS Fellows provide tangible benefits for families and opportunities to meet others. Our hosted panels and work-life balance sessions provide students and partners with parenting advice and support. We also host a Facebook group and listserv to allow students to seek help from other student-parents and stay up-to-date on family-friendly activities./p\r\nWe also engage in advocacy for student-parent interests. We meet with Harvard Griffin GSAS administration to seek the implementation of family-friendly policies in a broad range of advocacy areas. Our efforts have led to updates to the Parental Accommodations and Financial Support program, the implementation of the Care.com backup care benefit, and the centralization of and access to lactation rooms across campus. We also regularly gather data on student-parents through surveys and the Harvard Registrar to better understand the needs of our members./p

Mission
The Student Center at Harvard Griffin GSAS offers social, intellectual, and recreational activities designed to help students make connections outside of the classroom, lab, library, and across the various academic programs and campus locations in Harvard Griffin GSAS. The Center Squad supports operations at Lehman Hall, oversees Engage (our student activities portal), advises the Student Council, and manages the Student Fellows. We support Student Groups and Language Tables, and we coordinate events for families and the January@HarvardGriffinGSAS programming that takes place during the winter recess.
